Rain Rain Come again another day

    Saturday, June 27th, 2009

For Obvious reasons today I have been listening to Michael Jackson, as has it seems the rest of the planet, given that he now occupies 46% of the top 100 on itunes. I have begun to think that the sudden downpour we experienced this afternoon was somehow my fault as I listened to Earth Song about 20 times while dancing about cleaning, and this may have been interpreted as a summoning of the rain gods. And summoned they were.

Either way, I picked a hell of a time to pop to the shop for some milk. I got caught in nothing but jeans and a camisole and flip flops… A WHITE camisole. The shop is literally about 1 minutes walk door to door, so I didn’t think I’d need to throw on a bra, and it was so muggy out…. OOPS!!

    Lots of water.

    Check. Breasts.

    Check Bra-free Zone: Check

    White cotton. Check.

GOD HELD A WET T SHIRT CONTEST.

I couldn’t have been out more than 1 minute and was totally drenched.

Heehee! I’m teasing a bit with that pink-band. I was trying to find the stars that they used to have in British Porn Magazines over all the good bits but that didn’t happen… So I decided flashing a bit of pink would suffice to torment!

In that light some of where it is wet looks like mud! Did the heavens throw mud too? No I am not at Glastonbury (hahaha!) Maybe while I was trying to save my rose bush from drowning it tried to feel me up…I don’t know, maybe I’m just a dirty girl :)

Hello, You might notice the blog is looking a little bit different today!

What do you think? I wanted to poen it up and give it a brighter, lighter feel and make it a bit more user-friendly! I thought the white on black was a bit hard to read sometimes… A summer day deserves a friendly blog that is less sharp and blank. I may fiddle with it in the coming days (May? I will obviously!) to see if I can customize the thing :)

So Watch this space, you may find tomorrow it is completely different xx

    My soundtrack,

Sorry this post is a bit long- I might edit it later if I wake up and decide it is garbage, it’s a bit mushy and long winded  xx

History was the second album I ever saved up and bought. I had that and a copy of Off The Wall I knicked from my mum and I’d be dancing my head off in the living room.

There was a time me and a school friend tried to recreate the Scream video  in her basement. Needless to say, my dancing, while I was totally convinced if we just worked at it would be at Michael Jackson’s level, never was. I would have punched a nun to dance like him, he was so damn good! I made a VHS copy of Bad off MTV and must have jived along to that about 800 times.

I did take dance for a number of years, my school would have little recitals in community theaters nearby that all the parents and grandparents went to because  no one else would ever want to!

The first of these recitals that I actually remember: My big dance number featured “Smooth Criminal” (though if I remember correctly the dance work was reminiscent of sparkle motion from Donnie Darko) Basically a badly coordinated Abba inspired show by kids dressed like cops and robbers, popping up and down from behind the scenery like whack-a-moles…

Couple years later: We put on a Halloween production and did “Thriller” I wasn’t ‘the girl’ I was one of the background lurchers, and thank god for that because I had braces :) My makeup made me look like (I now realize) some kind of 80’s biker tranny/joker MESS, with big messy hair created through much MUCH purple glitter hairspray, not exactly scary!

Hell, I even was crazy in love with Weird Al Yankovic’s rendition of Bad with him in a big fat suit, (song was called fat! lol!)

Even before I was old enough for my jazz shoes I apparently used to bop along to ‘Don’t stop til you get enough’ when my mum played it on vinyl, I had to keep holding onto the sofa to keep from falling. There’s video of that too though of course I don’t remember it! I doubt I was even past strained carrots and mashed peas!

So Off the Wall was literally the FIRST album I danced to.  And I danced to it as a little brat kid, and I danced to it at my High School Prom. I danced to it last week as I hoovered the lounge. And on one of those silly ‘You can take one album to the desert island, what is it?’ emails It was the one I chose to take.  Off the Wall, it just makes me really happy.

Either way, it’s a kind of fond memories day. 22+ years on from my first dance session to MJ and it is STILL in my collection and on my ipod and still in my shoes :) I am willing to bet I will still have him in my ipod in 20 years (or holo-pod or brain-implant-pod or whatever)…  I guess I also have a lot of horribly embarrassing footage with those same songs on it! There’s WAY more video of me as an adult being stupid to MJ when drunk.

Bad, Off the Wall, Thriller, History, Dangerous… Each one has at least a couple tracks that I’ve grown up with, I doubt I’m the only one to think that:)

In the end it’s just an abrupt stop, cutting short the life of a troubled individual who produced some awesome performances and may even have been innocent, and has left behind quite a legacy and 3 kids and it’s just a real shame. Fly so high and fall so low.

Anyway, guess what I’m getting to is; Back in the day Michael Jackson was the F**king KING OF POP and I totally watched his every move and step and he was the coolest thing on two legs. I thought he was the BEST dancer and he was a performer and a singer, and damn was he good at his job!

I tried to find a youtube video I could embed but they won’t let you…So instead here is one of my fav renditions of Thriller.

Thanks for the tunes Mike, I can honestly say I’ve been dancing to them all my life xx
